This past weekend we took the kids to an ice skating rink in Manassas, they had a blast! I was shocked at how well they did, especially William! Syracuse/Holidays 2011

We had a wonderful time in Syracuse over the holiday break. We were able to celebrate Hanukkah, my mothers birthday, and Christmas with my parents and family. It was so nice to get away and have some time to relax and even enjoy some snow! The kids had a wonderful time with everyone and loved taking over Grandma and Grandpa's house! :0)

Quinlan's First Birthday

USMC Ball 2011

Bill and I attended the 236th USMC this past Saturday night. First I have to say I did my own hair, I know shocking!! I am so impressed with my self! ;0) We had a great night as adults, out by ourselves, and of course celebrating the Marine Corps Birthday!

Halloween 2011

Halloween this year was a lot of fun! The kids had a great time in their costumes (William still wears his almost daily)! Bill got home the Friday before (29th) just in time to head to Wegmans for their in store Trick-or-Treating, where the kids got to paint small pumpkins and visit the different locations (bakery, deli...) for candy. They had a blast and how can you not have fun when it's Wegmans?

Sunday I ran the USMC 10k in Washington DC it was very cold, below freezing for the whole race, but I had a great time. I was hoping for under 50 minutes and ran my a great race, unfortunately my last mile got me and the last 2 tenths up hill hit me hard and I finished at 50:01! A bummer to come so close, but it is something to work towards and I'm doing the Turkey Trot 10k on base in a couple weeks! ;0)

Halloween was a blast with the kids, Quinlan didn't even notice he had a costume on and loved being pulled in the wagon (he also loved being handed lolly-pops as we went along!). Lillian and William were really into this year which was great! There are more pictures on our web site:

Lillian Last Soccer Game

Lillian had her first two soccer games this weekend (Friday and Saturday) and she did outstanding! She loved playing and really got into it by her game on Saturday, she had an assist on one goal and scored her first goal!! It was textbook, she dribbled up the field, weaved around the other teams players and shot right into the goal!! Beautiful (No there are no pictures of this because I was That parent on the sidelines cheering!!). She was so shocked after she scored it was priceless then broke out into a beautiful grin!! She keeps asking when she gets to play again!!

William enjoyed his sisters soccer games as well; he spent his time playing with the other kids and wrestling the coaches daughter. In the pictures you see he lost, er...he let her win and have the soccer ball ;0)

William's First Day of School

William had his first day of preschool this week. He was so excited to be going to a big kid school just like his sister. He is loving it and making new friends adn enjoying his new teachers and all the activities they do everyday!

Great Wolf Lodge/Williamsburg, VA

Over Labor Day weekend we took the kids to Great Wold Lodge in Williamsburg, Va. We all had a wonderful time! Lillian and William really enjoyed the waterslides and all that Great Wolf had to offer! We also got to head into Williamsburg and fulfill Bills and my need to walk around downtown and get our family cannon shot with Quinlan in it. Lillian had no fear of water slides and even "rode the boogey board wave" (which I couldn't believe)! Quinlan was a great sport and actually napped most of the time we were at the water park! William loved playing on the water "fort" they have there!

First Day of School (August 16, 2011)

Tuesday was Lillian's first day of kindergarten and my first day of teaching. I am lucky to be teaching at Lillian's school so Bill got her on the bus and I was able to see her off the bus and to her classroom. We both had a wonderful first week and our settling into our new routines! Quinlan didn't want to be forgotten and ran a high fever all week finally after our second trip to Urgent Care they found a double ear infection. Then after 3 doses of amoxicillin, he broke out in a glorious allergic reaction, so we went back for our third trip to Urgent Care and a confirmation that he is also allergic to amoxicillin. Thankfully his rash has cleared up and he is doing much better!

We took a trip up to NY a few weeks ago and were lucky to have Bill join us for a few days over the weekend! We had a wonderful time with my sister, her son Charlie, and my mom blueberry picking at a farm in Cazenovia. I think William and Quinlan ate more than the 4 quarts we brought home!!

Quinlan celebrated his 7 month birthday yesterday. He is doing great growing like a week and eating like a champ. He is sitting up and begining to do the wiggle worm and I have no doubt crawling will be in our near future. He has also found our cats; Pixel has become his favorite and she is a real tropper and tolerates him as long as I am near by.

We had been looking for some time for a gently used Rowing machine for some of the workouts Bill and I do and I finally found one! Yeah, I was super excited. As you can see so were the kids who also think it is for them. Lillian is really good at rowing and William, well he is learning!! Haha.

Our Garden

We were not able to do a large scale garden like we did at Camp Lejeune (boo) but we found a way to still have a small garden. We are growing tomatoes, cucumbers and a red and orange pepper. Along with basil and cilantro. We have a handful tomatoes growing that we are patiently waiting to turn red so we can enjoy them! We also have some cucumbers starting to grow, it is very exciting and the kids are a great help watering and taking care of them.

Marine Corps Museum

We went to the Marine Corps Museum on July 4th and had a wonderful time. It is truly a fabulous museum. So well done and with so much great information and to see! The kids had a blast, as you can see and I know we will visit it many more times!

Rock Climbing and William's Big Boy Bed

Bill and I were recently able to get our re-certification for indoor rock climbing so we are now able to belay the kids! They loved it. Lillian excelled and got almost half way up the wall. William did great but really loved just being there! We have also finally got William a realy "Big Boy Bed". I had been searching for quite a while and had not found one I liked. He loves it and is having no problem sleeping in it. He is also loving his new Spiderman sheets.

Father's Day Patio Make Over Suprise!

Bill was away this weekend enjoying the US Open with my dad which provided me with the perfect opportunity revamp our patio and suprise him!! I used pea pebbles and a rubber edging on the sides for a much cleaner and neater look. The kids and I also got him a charcoal grill and accessories!! Now he just needs to get home and see it!! :0)

June has been a busy month so far for us as well. I was lucky enough to be offered a long-term substitute position teaching Extended School Year (ESY; summer school) for special needs children here on base. That started last week and runs until the middle of July Monday-Thursday for half days. I am loving being back in a classroom and the students I have are wonderful! We also got very lucky that a dear friends' daughter is home from college and needed a job for the summer and accepted our offer to sit our kiddos!

Quinlan had his 6 month "birthday" on the 15th and at his check up he weighed 15.11lbs and was about 28.5inches(the nurse was having some issues shall we say) but this puts him in the 5-10% for weight and 95% for height. He is eating baby food now, rolling over front and back and babbling all the time. I have no doubt soon enough he will be mobile!

May was a busy, fun-filled month for us! We visited the natural history museum and thoroughly enjoyed the dinosaurs and many other enhibits they have! I have no doubt we will be back! We also went to Mount Vernon with our good friends the Rupperts over Memorial Day weekend and were all very impressed with George Washington's home. The kids enjoyed taking a mule ride and exploring his house and running up and down the very large hill. Quinlan enjoyed all our excursions and moving from his baby bath tub to a new bath seat! Bill's Change of Command

Bill's Change of Command took place outside of the Officer's Club on Friday May 6th. It was an absolute honor to be a part of the last year with Bill and the kids, and even more so to be there for the end. It was bittersweet to say goodbye for both Bill and I, but as a wise friend said "there is life after battery command" ;0)

Today was of course a very hot North Carolina Day, and we indulged by getting and setting up a water slide/pool for the kids. They loved it and we loved watching them enjoy it!! William has also decided he is a super hero, and is dressing as one while running "super fast" and jumping off the couch, chair and basically anything he can find!!

The Easter Bunny in our house brought Crocs for Lillian and William, and they love them!! We had a wonderful day begining with Bill and Lillian attending Church on base, then breakfast and playing at a playground in Swansboro. Quinlan 4 Months Old

Quinlan is just over 4 months old now, and is doing great! At his check up he was 14lbs 2oz and 25.5 inches long. He is in the 25% for weight, and the 75% for height!! He is trying to roll over, fully holding his head up and enjoying oatmeal and juice from a sippy cup!

The first weekend of April we ventured home to NY for one of my very good friends baby showers, as well as an LeMoyne Alumni Board Meeting for Bill and of course to see Grandma and Grandpa. The kids fully enjoyed playing with Grandma's new puppy "Colby", and playing with both Grandma and Grandpa. We enjoyed the neighborhood Easter Party as well as seeing friends and family!

Quinlan hit a few milestones at the end of March. On March 30th at 3.5 months Quinlan cut his first two teeth. His bottom front two teeth came through much to my suprise!! It barely phased him and he followed it by enjoying some rice cereal!!

Lillian celebrated her 5th birthday March 23rd; we all enjoyed a wonderful morning opening presents eating breakfast and then loaded everyone up to head to South Carolina for Bill's brothers graduation from Army Boot. Lillian was a super big girl sharing her big day and loved getting to see her Uncle Brian and as well as Bill's parents. After our very short trip to SC this past Saturday Lillian chose to have her family birthday dinner at a local Japanese restaurant (the kids devoured Miso Soup, sushi and shrimp and rice) we then let her use her Target Birthday Gift Card and she picked out 2 adorable dresses, a Hello Kitty umbrella along with some coloring and painting supplies! She truly felt like a big girl. Then on Sunday she had her birthday party at our local Gymnastics place. She and her friends (and brother) had a wonderful time bouncing around! I am amazed at what a big girl she is already and as sad as it is that she is getting older, (wiser) and bigger, everyday I am so lucky to be able to watch her grow!

Saturday was William's 3rd birthday! It is hard to believe it has been 3 years since he entered our lives! We had a wonderful day starting with blueberry pancakes and sausage for breakfast then onto opening presents! William loved opening all of them and especially loved is new super hero and batman underwear from Grandma and Grandpa O'Brien. He spent a good 15 minutes looking at each pair and naming all of the characters on them! We then told him there was one more gift from Bill and I outside; he was very surprised to see a brand new big boy bike! He has been riding ever since.

In the afternoon we ventured to Chuck-E-Cheese's for a birthday party for one of Lillian's classmates. Both kids loved running around like crazy and getting to play. William of course loved "having another birthday party" ;0) To end our day we took the kids to Texas Roadhouse for dinner where they can throw the peanut shells on the ground! We had a great day together as a family and making William's 3rd birthday special!

Navy/Air Force Baseball Game

Today Bill's Battery performed the President's Day Salute aboard Camp Lejeune. The kids and I were able to attend and we were not disappointed! It was amazing to see the cannons that close and to witness the firing.

Quinlan was showing his pride by wearing his "King of Battle" shirt that Ms. Ruthie got him! He was having a great time smiling and cooing as I took his picture.

Quinlan's Baptism

This past weekend we had Quinlan's baptism here aboard Camp Lejeune. Our wonderful friends Heath and Ruthie were able to be present to accept the role as his God Parents! It was a wonderful service, and us grown-ups (with Quinn) were able to have an adult night out afterwards! Lillian and William were not fond of taking family pictures, and seeing Lillian so grown up was very hard!

Quinlan Two Months Old

Time is definitely flying! Quinlan is two months old now and his personality is coming out more each day! He is growing like a weed and at a sick visit this week he was 11lbs 4oz (so another pound) and we will get his height at his well check-up this week. We definitely had our initiation into a sick family this week. Both Lillian and William came down with strep throat and Quinlan began to run a low-grade fever and after some blood work the Dr's determined he had a virus. Thankfully nothing more serious! William seems to have gotten my genes as a possible carrier of strep; as he showed no symptoms (fever, sore throat...) for his strep. I asked that they test him after Lillian tested positive and sure enough he was! After some heavy duty antibiotics we are all on the mend.

William also reached a milestone this week with becoming fully potty trained (YEAH!!!); he was able to pick out his "big boy" toy. He of course chose the most complicated Iron Man Transformer (Iron Man to a jet) that mommy has no clue how to transform and is ready to throw the toy out and get him something much less complicated ;0)

Playground Fun

Last weekend we had a gorgeous, warm, almost Spring day and we took full advantage of it! Eating lunch and playing at the playground "by daddies old work" (as William says). It was so nice to be outside and not freezing or wet and the playground was recently renovated with tons or new equipment! The kids (daddy included) also needed to explore the surrounding beach and water which of course included dipping their toes in!!

We have had a very busy 6 weeks since Quinlan's arrival with family and friends visiting along with a few North Carolina "snow storms" (those of us from Upstate NY would not consider them storms!!) which of course disrupted travel, schools and life in general here! Quinlan is doing fantastic, at his 5 week check-up he was 10lbs 3oz and 23inches long!! He is extremely alert and picking his head up already!

Lillian and William are enjoying Quinlan more and more each day as he is doing new things and they get to watch and be a part of them all. Bill and I are loving watching all our kids together and how they are growing up so quickly!! This week proved to be tough for Lillian and William as I took away all television!! I know gasp! But, it has been wonderful playing together, coloring, painting playing play dough, listening to music and we even ventured to the park a few times (yes in the cold)! I have to admit, I love having zero TV!! ;0)

Settling Into Our Party Of 5

9 Days later and we are all doing great! Quinlan is the perfect addition to our family and we are settling in just fine. Lillian and William love holding him and have adjusted pretty well; William is having his moments, but for a 2 1/2 year old, who can blame him!!

Quinlan Robert Soucie

On Wednesday December 15th at 2:03 pm we welcomed Quinlan Robert Soucie into our family. He made a grand, dramatic entrance with the cord around his neck twice (explaining the lower heart rate and some decelerations he had) but very quickly pinked up and let out a grand scream! He was 20 inches long and 7lbs 10oz (the biggest of our bunch)!

Lillian and William are fully enjoying their new roles and loving on their new baby brother. Lillian especially wants and enjoys helping in every aspect of Quinlan. Bill and I are happy to be home and all together!!

39 Weeks

We have reached that pivotal point of 39 weeks! Yeah!! Yes I am counting!! I had an appointment this past Wednesday and while baby has "dropped" I am not at all dilated. Just a little depressing ;0) I'll go back this Wednesday and hopefully we'll have some progress and be able to welcome our new little one sooner, not later!!

On Thursday Lillian's class perfomred a few Halloween songs (video to follow). We also carved pumpkins this weekend in anticipation of Halloween!

Fancy Nancy Tea

This past weekend my friend Dallas and I took our girls to a Fancy Nancy Tea Party in Willmington. It was adorable and the girls had a great time. They enjoyed making bracelets, crowns and eating yummy treats! They were also treated to a visit from "Fancy Nancy" and a Fancy Nancy story. It was a fabulous girls afternoon!

Oktoberfest

This past weekend we took the kids to Oktoberfest here in Jacksonville. We were very impressed with all they had including a great kids section with free games and bouncy's! Lillian begged to go in the harnessed trampoline bounce and the minute she got in it she wanted nothing to do with it! William on the other hand LOVED it!! Especially when the gentleman took him "super high"! We also fed some animals, which Lillian was not so sure of! All in all we had a great time and for Jacksonville, NC it was very well done!

Pumpkin Picking

Yesterday we ventured to Mike's Farm here in Jacksonville to find out Halloween Pumpkins! We had a great time. William did not want to leave the tractors and even asked our hay ride driver if he could drive!! Lillian really enjoyed finding a pumpkin for baby, and then both kiddos asked if babies pumpkin could sleep in their room!

All in all it was a very succesful day!!

28 Weeks

Here are a few "belly pics"! The first is four weeks ago (24 weeks) and the second is from today 28 weeks!! Yeah!! So excited to be in my 3rd trimester and almost to the home stretch! I had a check-up this week and everything is looking good. I'm measuring about 2 weeks ahead (this is not a science) and at this point my Dr said not to be concerned. If I am still measuring big on my next apt she will do a sonogram just to check the size of baby and everything else! She also promised me I am NOT having a 10lb baby! Baby's heart rate was 150 (the highest it has been in months!) so keep guessing!! ;0)

The last picture is William this morning passed out on the couch; poor guy was not feeling great with a runny nose and cough!!

Beach House

We have been spending the long weekend at a beach house on base; and LOVING every minute of it!! The weather has be just wonderful and thankfully Hurricane Earl did nothing more than a little rain and barely any wind!! Syracuse Visit and Beach

These are a few random pictures that I just got off of my camera! At the end of July we traveled to Syracuse to say goodbye to my Grandfather O'Brien. It was an unfortunate set of circumstances, but a great opportunity to see our family and spend some quality time together. The beach pictures are from Lejeune, and as you can see the kids LOVED being buried in the sand!

I'm including a link to an amazing story about my Grandfather's time in the US Army. He truly was a facinating man; and I have no doubt there are stories he took with him that legends are truly made of!

First Day of School

William and Lillian began their new school years this week! William began 2 year old preschool on base and is absolutely loving it!! He is going 3 days a week, and comes home every day saying all the fun he did including "played with his friend Luke"!
Lillian began Pre-K and so far is loving being a "big kid" at a big kid school! She is so excited to be back at school, and I just hope it continues!!

Baby #3 at 20 Weeks

It took me a while, but here are a few sonogram pictures of baby #3 at 20 weeks (about 4 weeks ago). No we did not find out the sex of our baby, we are going to be surprised!! ;0) Everything is going really well and this baby's heart rate has been the lowest of all our kids: staying for the last two appointments in teh 130's....we'll just keep guessing!!

Our Sunflower

This weekend one of our (3) sunflowers bloomed. We are so excited!! Our garden is really growing!! ;0)

Vegetable Garden

I would be lying if I wasn't shocked at how well our garden is doing!! But we are fully enjoying everything it is giving us! So far we have picked some green beans, which the kids loved! We have 3 HUGE cucumbers growing, 10 tomatoes (2 are in early red stage), we have an orange pepper (although it is currently green but changing colors) and 3 sunflowers that are ginormous!! Our corn, and pumpkins as well as carrots are all doing very well too!! It is very exciting for us and the kids to watch our garden grow and to get to enjoy all it has to offer!!

Father's Day

For father's day a few weeks ago we headed to the beach! We all had a blast! Lillian has definitely gotten over her fear of the waves and headed straight into them! William wasn't so sure but loved digging in the sand and playing in the shallow water. It was definitely a great day

Today we took the kids to the pool and they had a blast!! They are doing great swimming by themselves with their vests on. They are also jumping into the pool and dunking their heads adn doing great!!

11 Weeks

I realized that I do not have any pictures of my belly with #3 yet, so a litle late but here we are at 11 weeks! Baby, the kids, and I are doing well. I had a check-up this week and babies heart rate was 184 (start making guesses!!) which is great, and everything else is looking good.

Our Garden

The kids helped me plant our vegetable garden this year. They are having a blast with it, watching all the plants grow and veggies begin to emerge! We have planted Sunflowers, Red, Orange, Yellow Peppers, Green Beans, Tomoatoes (Lots of Tomatoes), Pumpkins, Lemon plant and Carrots! Phew! We also have started a compost to have nutrients for our garden, Bill and the kids added worms, and they LOVE checking on the worms!!

New Pool for the Summer

A few weeks ago we replaced the kids pool that was "damaged" while moving! I went for the big one this time!! The kids are loving it!!

Soucie Baby #3

Lillian and William are beyond excited to announce they will be big sister and brother!! I am pregnant with #3!! I am due December 11th, so just over 8 weeks. I had my first appointment today and the baby looks great, the heart rate was 153 (anybody's guess!). We are not planning to find out the sex of this baby before he/she is born (I know, I am horrible at waiting, but I am determined to do this!!). I want to be suprised!! ;0) Stay tuned for more pictures as the weeks go by!!

Bill's Change of Command

Mud Run

This past weekend Bill and I ran the 4 mile MARSOC Mud Run on base here, it was so much fun!! I of course found the largest, deepest mud pit and stepped waist deep into it!! Thankfully I didn't lose my shoe!! Needless to say we had to hose ourselves off when we were done!! Here are our results!! =o)

Big Birthday Present

This past Monday we were able to give the kids their "big" birthday gift: New Bikes!! Lillian got a big girl bike with training wheels, which she is doing great on!! William still needs a little help with his bike, but he is getting the hang of it!! Lillian also started at her new school in Jacksonville, and is really enjoying her new class and friends.

I am also delighted to pass along that it looks as though Bill will take command of a Battery by mid-April. Words cannot clearly describe how proud I am of him, and all his hard work that has lead him to this well earned honor.

Boston Aquarium

We had been promising Lillian for weeks that for her birthday we would take her to the Boston Aquarium , so on her birthday we finally did!! It was amazing!! The kids loved watching the sharks and huge turtle swim around the tank in the middle of the building. They also LOVED the touch tank; it took Lillian a little while to warm up to the idea of touching a star fish, but she finally did!! I'll post video of that soon!
